The advantages of holding a ‘European residence permit’ or a ‘Second citizenship and passport’ are significant if you want to permanently shield your wealth and mitigate your risks. You’re able to establish businesses, open bank accounts, and expand investments globally under your ‘new identity’ as a European resident or a more powerful ranked passport. This second identity helps you to achieve safety if your home country is unstable and allows you to move freely around the globe. Having an alternative residence or citizenship not only protects the present and future of your family, but also offers you access to a wide range of social benefits from the government systems of developed countries, such as medical, welfare, education, taxation, retirement, and social liberation. As a European resident, you have access to almost all government benefits.

These ‘fast track citizenship programs’ are usually different from ‘residency programs’. Investment options vary by country, from government bonds, donations, real estate to mixed-investments. Every country has its own tax legislations. Generally, taxation applies to a foreigner if you conduct any trade, commerce, or business activities in the country of residence. A foreigner who is a registered resident, conducts business, and stays for more than 184 days in a foreign land, is considered a tax-resident (permanent resident) and is eligible to pay taxes on their income.

However, in case of a European Residence Permit- Nil Investment category, if you do not conduct any business in that country and your business is registered and generates an income outside the country of application Eg- Residence visa application for Spain and business or online store is registered in Mexico, India, Germany, UK, Russia, or anywhere outside of Spain, then you do not pay taxes in Spain. Therefore, to conduct business in Spain, we can apply for a business registration or innovator category of visa.

For the Fast Citizenship category, all Caribbean countries offering second passport programs do not impose any tax on wealth, gift, inheritance, foreign income, or capital gains. You are only liable to pay personal tax if you reside in the country. Cyprus, having the fastest citizenship program to obtain a passport part of the European Union in only 6 months, would not tax you unless you become a tax resident in the country. Therefore, you can enjoy all the benefits of being European but not getting taxed by your country of citizenship if you don’t reside in Cyprus. At the same time, the Republic of Cyprus offers one of the lowest corporate tax rates in Europe. A resident with a Cypriot passport is subject to tax under the Cyprus personal tax regime, which is regarded as one of the most generous tax regimes in Europe. Non-tax residents are charged to tax only on income generated within Cyprus, i.e rents, royalties, remuneration, or other profits arising from property situated in Cyprus.

Caribbean programs do not require you to visit the country before, during, or after the application process. Antigua & Barbuda is the only exception to this rule as it requires applicants to spend 5 days in the country within 5 years of obtaining citizenship. Cyprus requires you to visit the country to undertake Biometrics at the beginning of the process and also to collect your Citizenship Certificate and Passport in person at the Immigration Department in Cyprus at the end of the process (after 6 months of submitting the application).
